About Jessica Padilla

As an attorney with a wealth of experience serving on both sides of the courtroom, Jessica Padilla has the perspective and foresight Harris County needs in a judge.

The daughter of a police detective, Jessica was raised with a keen understanding of service and started her career at the Harris County District Attorney’s office.  Serving as a prosecutor for six years, Jessica understands the challenges facing our judicial system. She worked her way up through the ranks of the district attorney’s office and resolved thousands of cases from thefts and DWIs to child abuse and murder.  Jessica was assigned to the family criminal law division, trial bureau, grand jury, juvenile division, and was the Chief Prosecutor for court 13.  Jessica has spent over a decade in private practice, working tirelessly for her clients.  For the past three years, Jessica has served with the Harris County Drug Court program (STAR Court), working to help addicts achieve sobriety, changing their lives, and saving families.  In addition to the drug court program, Jessica also works for the new Harris County Responsive Interventions for Change docket, implementing therapeutic treatment options for non-violent, low level drug and prostitution cases with the goal of reducing recidivism.

Jessica is a board member of the Northwest Pachyderm, a member of Heritage Republican Women, board member of Greater Houston Council of Federated Republican Women, and a member of Houston Reality Business Coalition.  She is a member of Texas Association of Specialty Courts, a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, and member of Association of Women Attorneys, Houston.

Jessica is active in her church and children’s parochial school, having served on the Total Board of Education as President, Chair of the School Finance Committee, Chair of the School Strategic Planning Committee as well as PTO President, Vice President and Treasurer. Additionally, she serves as a member of the Altar Guild.  Jessica and her family also serve as a foster family for Pug Hearts Houston.

A sixth-generation Texan and life-long conservative, Jessica holds a BA from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in Houston. Her husband, Michael, graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M. Jessica and Michael will celebrate their sixteenth wedding anniversary this year and have two wonderful children.

  • 17 years of criminal law experience, serving as a former Harris County Prosecutor and over a decade in private practice.
  • Experience and training in drug addiction, recovery, and mental health issues, working in Harris County specialty dockets.
  • Active in community and church, serving on Total Board of Education, School Finance committee, PTO president, Altar Guild, and fostering for Pug Hearts of Houston.
  • Sixth generation Texan, life long conservative. Married for 16 years with two wonderful children.
